Last year I visited Portsmouth, NH, (my favorite NH town), and it was a stormy day, so we ducked into a little cafe along the river. There we were, sipping coffee, watching the storm, when a large boat came lumbering down the river with 3 tugboats working tirelessly to guide it safely to port. I was fascinated to watch the power of these tugs as they pushed hard right into the sides of the ship, causing the tugs to churn up the sea, blow smoke and tip its sides right out of the water. It was quite a treat to watch, as the wet sailors braved the weather and looked on.
